Phew! Ok that was embarrassing to write: I am addicted to my phone. Ok, I’ve said it twice now, it’s not so bad, but still very true and very much affecting my life.
In the video below I share a little about why I am embarking on this little experiment (as inspired by my wonderful friend Charlie - I highly recommend subscribing to her Substack). I also share some fun things I got up to yesterday.
The aim of these posts and little vlogs is to allow me space to be creative without the pressure of constantly being on my phone and social media. I also want to continue sharing my thoughts, opinions and insights in a more intentional way, which I will also do here with the hope you will choose to come along and engage with the content I share.
As mentioned in the video I’m not going cold turkey with social media so you may well see my pop in and out occasionally to share links for Palestine or other important causes, because activism is a truly integral part of my identity and I don’t feel prepared to severe that off. I’m really excited (and nervous) for this change in how I’m choosing to show up online and ultimately in my real life and I can’t wait to share it with you here.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post and hopefully watch my first video here. I will aim to share a vlog style video at least once a week with written posts scattered between. Some of it will be for my free subscribers and some for you wonderful paid subscribers. If you cannot afford to become a paid subscriber, recommending my substack to your friends or sharing it to your socials is a huge help and equally meaningful.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments below and I’ll get back to you when I can.

Thank you for being so honest lovely, I relate so so much. I am glued to my phone with Instagram open all the time, snd it is such an anxiety thing, most of the time I don’t even need to be on it but due to habit I am. Happy to be following you here xx
Fellow addict over here 🙋♀️ Have been having lots of similar thoughts recently about how social media drains my creative brain and never feels particularly satisfying, and leaves me feeling frustrated that I can’t show up on Substack more where I feel more able to give a deep dive into thoughts and topics. Proud of you for recognising and making the change ❤️
