I was talking with a friend yesterday about being tired after an event I attended (it was the book launch for my friends book, ‘unmasked’ and it’s out now!): they asked how my energy levels were after socialising with neurodivergent folk vs neurotypical people. I thought it was a really great question and it made me think so I thought I would process it here with you.

For context, growing up I felt like I never truly fit in with my friends (not that I had many). I felt like the odd one out or like I was just pretending in order to assimilate and be accepted. I never belonged and never felt like a truly integral part of any social circle.

Now I know why.
